Company History

Verspieren has enjoyed more than 125 years of expansion in insurance broking - starting with the company's establishment, in Roubaix, in 1880 and followed by its subsequent development in France and internationally.

A few key figures

1880

Alfred Verspieren creates his first insurance office in Roubaix.

1975

First Paris office opened.

1982

Acquisition of Labalette, leader on the "aggravated Motor risks" market.

1983

Creation of the SPRL Verspieren office in Belgium and of Crefac, now known as Verspieren Credit Management (Credit insurance broking).

1984

- Creation of SAFIR, a company specialising in reinsurance, captive management and the coverage of Industrial risks.
- Opening of Verspieren Iberica, first Spanish office.

1989

Purchase of Dupont-Fauville (Corporate and Construction risks, Group insurances) and SAAM (insurance of aircrew): Verspieren is the fourth largest French broker.

1994

- Acquisition of AFCM (Construction and Real Estate specialists).
- Purchase of SACA, BP France's captive broker, and of GARENT.

1996

CCAT, a specialist in Social Real Estate insurance, becomes part of Verspieren.

1997

Acquisition of Assurances Deleplanque in Lille.

1998

Purchase of the Portuguese broker Mediator.

1999

- Acquisition of Asseurop in Belgium.
- Founding member of Assurex Global, the world's largest network of independent brokers.

2000

- Purchase of Alkora, a large Spanish broker.
- Solly Azar, a wholesale broker, and its subsidiary Qualiteam (third-party management platform) join the Group.
- Purchase of SLA in Limoges and of Montmirail and SMCA in Marseille.

2001

- Acquisition of Air Assur (a Light Aircraft insurance specialist) and of a 50% interest in CCC in Rennes.
- Majority interest in Desviris (now Verspieren Rhône-Alpes).
- Creation of Platus in conjunction with Crédit Lyonnais (international Credit and Political Risks insurance).

2002

Creation of Cirano in Amiens: services for professionals in the Motor industry.

2003

Participation in the creation of Public Gouvernance, a specialist in risk anticipation and crisis management for local authorities.

2004

Purchase of IPAC 64 and GSA 34, Parisian wholesale brokers specialising in "aggravated Motor risks" insurance.

2005

Purchase of CA2i, Construction specialist.

2006

Opening of Verspieren Cap Invest, spécialised in financial risks.

2007

- Solly Azar becomes the Solly Azar Group.
- Verspieren Group adopts the legal status of limited company with a Board of Directors and a Supervisory Board

2008

Verspieren's Head Office moves to Wasquehal.

2009

Establishment of the Neuilly-sur-Seine office, in Saint-Denis.

2009

2011

- Acquisition of 65% of the brokerage firm ACE (Assureurs Conseils de l'Entreprise). Based in Nice, this firm specialises in industrial, commercial and professional risks, and especially in contsruction risks.
- Acquisition of the firm Branchet, specialized in medical liability.
- At the end of june 2011 Verspieren created a new subsidiary in Italy, Verspieren Italie, which has its head office in Milan. Its ambition ? Becoming a key player in the Italian brokerage market.
- Acquisition of Collecteam Ingénierie Sociale.

2012

- Opening of a Verspieren office in Toulouse.
- Creation of Verspieren International, the international network of Verspieren.
